Bananas, Playparks and Americans

Quite a nice day today, although the 'holiday' feeling seems to be wearing off a bit - could be because Lily has now dropped her lunchtime sleep so I can't lie in the beautiful sunshine and read my book for an hour any more...!

We went down to the lakeside playpark in Morges this morning and met up with Debbie who lives in the village and has been in Switzerland (from Ghana) for the last 14 years or so.  She has 3 children, one Lily's age and one a bit younger than Pia and a 4 year old.  She works for the World Health Organisation and is on maternity leave for another week - it seems that most mums in Switzerland stay at home and don't go out to work and if they do, they have to work full time - it's a rare thing for employers to offer part time here.

Anyway, she's a nice lady, local and it was great to have something fixed to do today!  Tomorrow evening we have our neighbours around for supper with their two daughters who are 24 and 22 and potential babysitters..... great, Rolf and I will finally be able to have some evenings out!

Tomorrow morning I am going for coffee with an american lady in the next door village, who got in touch with me through the church we've been going to - she sounds lovely, has two grown up kids and has been here for ages.  And then on Wednesday I'll go to Morges market and hang out as I like doing - but this time Tessa and her baby Olivia are coming with me - she's the wife of a colleague of Rolf's and they've just moved out here.

Chiquita, the banana company, have just moved their European headquarters to Rolle, where Rolf is - seems like 'the' place to be!! he he...
