This is the life!

Beautiful sunny day and Rolf remembered that we'd been invited to a wine tasting experience at a private domaine above Rolle, where he works (his parents have been buying wine from the family for years and years).

So, we trundled off, girls in tow - picked up some fresh fruit from a local farm along the way and drove up to the sublimely beautiful vineyards above Rolle.  There must have been around 30 of us and there was a table set up by a local smoke house, serving small mouthfulls of the most delicious fish pate, then another with some ham, another with some soup and finally one with chocolate handmade macaroons.  YUM.  Oh, and the wine of course.  We sampled a few glasses, bought a box, tucked into the fayre and met a delightful couple who had also just moved to the region - Danica and Rob Penn - don't the American's come up with some spectacular names sometimes!  I guess they must be in their late 40s, no kids and we got talking.  He part owns an American point of purchase company and has moved over to be closer to some of their key clients - Procter and Gamble being one of them.  She works in copywriting and web design but is waiting for a permit to operate over here - lovely couple and we exchanged numbers.

Just made a tart for tomorrow's church family lunch, Rolf and Lily have gone to buy wellies and Pia is still asleep.  Tonight we're going out to a local auberge for supper with Rosi and Tris, our new friends! Oh this is the life, simple and full of nice food and people!
